I’ve encountered a surprising amount of seemingly intelligent, successful, people recently who of their own admission don’t read books. They just watch short videos, maybe a movie, and read social media.
I’m not a researcher but I expect that their vocabulary is stunted as a result.
But they’re so weirdly proud about it. Like a defiant 12 year old who doesn’t want to do his homework.
The doing it doesn’t bother me so much as the “Hey so I was browsing through my downvotes and noticed you downvoted me. Justify your actions to me!” PMs.

Speaking on behalf of a friend, as I prefer toppings: they discovered that a variety of things give them body problems, and it’s easier to just do a plain cheese pie than to try to guess if peppers are going to upset their body today.

Nitpick, even though I agree with you: companies believe they will benefit. We can’t rule out how fucking stupid a lot of management types are. Like whatever company fired people for AI and then had to retire them, plus eat the lost potential from fucking around with AI for months.
And even when the individuals aren’t stupid, the incentives are fucked. Google kills products because of internal fighting for promotions and recognition, not anything that’s good for users or the companies.
A lot of Americans have shitty, immature, views on sexuality and the human body.
I remember some coworkers and I chatting about it, and two of them both said they’d rather their kid watch a movie where someone got shot in the head than one where someone received oral sex.
