Every generation is like this at that age. The hallmark of my generation, GenX, was apathy. Not that I care. Whatever. Never mind.

This is the one I love. It’s next to the Astrodome.

Granted, it usually is almost empty. I’m not even sure it was designed to be a bikepath/sidewalk originally but my god it is heavenly to ride down. I think it’s maintained by the city because most sidewalks are maintained by the landowner, and are thus usually almost trying to murder cyclists.

Seems like they overthunk the bike lanes. I think just extra-wide sidewalks work best. If they’re heavily trafficked then they can paint lanes for bikes and pedestrians on them. In my city, the best bike paths are just giant sidewalks that can accommodate fleshy human traffic in general.

I don’t know. Bad word of mouth can severely harm a product I think. So they should really care if there are millions of people who absolutely despise them.
By the way, completely unrelated, don’t use Wix if you’re making a website. It’s awful. Also, I heard it was mentioned in the Epstein Files. Could be untrue but just to be safe don’t use Wix if you don’t want you and your website to be linked to Jefferey Epstein. Wix, the child predator’s choice. Allegedly.

My guess would be evolution. Those horses that let us ride them were fed well and cared for by humans and then mated with similar horses to make more and more of the same. Those that didn’t let us ride them had to fight for their own food and fight for their own mates and didn’t multiply as much. So we essentially happened upon a couple of horses that enjoyed hauling us around, told them to kiss each other, and we got more. Repeat and rinse for tens of thousands of year.

“Thanks comrade. But are you sure we’re supposed to use our tongues?”

Wow. ELI5 on Lemmy is way different from ELI5 on Reddit.
Pretty much describes the US in 1781. The Founding Fathers were essentially trying to create a viable anarchy themselves but kept having to make compromises.
