Sounds like they were retaining more water rather than quickly putting on a lot of muscle, which is common with creatine usage. I explained what actually happens in another reply.

What does that even mean?
Kinda, but the effect is almost imperceptible. It’ll help you get like one more rep on your last set, or maybe one more sprint, at sufficient intensity, which is a little bit of extra volume that does add up over time with proper consistency. So, not just “looking stronger.”
The brain health effects that the influencers are talking about now are just hype, though.
If you’re taking the universally agreed on and recommended dosage of 5g/day, you’re fine. You’re not going to see insane results as opposed to not taking it, but it won’t hurt.
And just stick with the monohydrate powder. I’ve been seeing a lot of other stuff recently, like gummies, or creatine added to acidic energy drinks. It doesn’t hold up well in those conditions, so just mix it yourself.

15·4 months agoI feel you, friend. The diagnosis definitely helped, but i still haven’t gotten the sense of real rest and relaxation I’ve been hoping for, though medication does bring some quiet and mental clarity.

ADHD@lemmy.world•Why are diagnoses of ADHD soaring? There are no easy answers – but empathy is the place to start | Gabor MatéEnglish
1·4 months agoA bit of an elevated pulse for a short while immediately after taking it. Suppressed appetite, though I’d describe it more as “forgetting” that I’m hungry. Like sometimes it doesn’t register enough for me to get up and eat something, which has resulted in some weight loss, but I’m also in much better physical shape now.
None of which outweigh the true mental clarity I get and the lowered barrier to task initiation.
I’ve never gone off of it, but every once in a while I take a day or two off. Mostly if I’m anticipating a big meal or a lot of physical activity that day.

3·4 months agoMaybe if stimulants were so addictive I wouldn’t forget to take my medication so often.
Other stimulants though, like caffeine and nicotine, yeah for sure. I self-medicated with cigarettes and Mountain Dew for decades before going on Adderall.

1·4 months agoIt took me almost 4 years to seek a diagnosis after learning what ADHD actually was because I kept questioning myself.
When I finally did, the provider paused in the middle of the evaluation and said normally we’d have you get some responses from your family and coworkers too, but that won’t be necessary since you clearly have it.
Got put on medication and the difference in being able to do even the most basic things is like night and day.

It actually comes from Cap’n Crunch cereal.
