  • Anecdotally, it cured my hypertension, and random adrenaline surges from other conditions. As a bonus, it mildly helps my ADHD as well.

As an example, it’s still really hard to remember anything, but it’s physically possible to remember things now. Like, there’s a tiny tiny thread I can pull on. It’s subtle, but definitely noticeable. My dose is very low, though.

Even so, it made me extremely sleepy for about 3 weeks. So watch out for that.

  • I have this weird relationship with co-op games. I’m either:

    • Completely locked in and solve the puzzle in 2 seconds and want to win immediately and get frustrated because everyone else isn’t telepathically on the same wavelength as me and words are a clumsy and inefficient series of grunts that cannot be used to orchestrate the winning strategy efficiently.
    • Completely disengaged and bored, keeping myself entertained by playing “floor is lava” or parkour with environmental props and struggling to stay awake.
    • Trolling my friends and making the game as stupid as possible and we’re all laughing uncontrollably.

My friends only enjoy playing with me when I’m in the latter state. Most games I don’t like playing co-op because there’s not enough ways to be stupid. Recent example, water park simulator was great for this, you could randomly ragdoll your friends into the pool and throw poop at them. Baldur’s Gate 3 was not great for this because any trolling would result in serious consequences and not be funny, so I kind of just turned my brain off and waited for my turn.

  • Random story: I saw a diabetic refuse to have his gangrenous “pinky toe” removed to save his life. Not even a foot, just the one smallest toe. I think about him sometimes.

I think it’s been proven sugar is literally an addictive substance; it’s hard to say no when it’s not your rational mind in control. I have "pre"diabetes even though I never ate sugar; but I ate lots of other carbs and got unlucky. Rice and pasta and (non-American) bread every day sort of thing.

I come from an ethnicity of starvation and poverty, and there’s growing research showing that diabetes actually used to be a protective adaptation. The idea is that, if you didn’t have many carbs per day, just stretch out that 1 carrot for the whole day. It makes sense in that lens.

Then, overnight, society changed, and we’re eating 30 carrots worth of carbs every day. Body didn’t get the memo and makes those carbs last as long as possible, as it used to, but now it’s a bad thing and causes high blood sugar.
