I am not Taiwanese, but I have the same hope. However, if Trump gets away with Venezuela and Putin with Ukrain, I see no reason why China would not follow through with their threats. Luckily, I think Taiwan more ready to fight back than Venezuela.

Didn’t know this is a thing.
HL3? That’s a name I haven’t heard in a long time…
Northrhine Westphalia here: I am no expert. My opinion I) Our birthtate is too low. We need people paying into the Rentenkasse (retirement funds) to carry us. II) Skilled immigrants aside we also need immigrants to do jobs most Germans don’t like III) New immigrants commit more crimes; while this is definitely true (relatively 3 times as much for certain crimes), I have yet to see a detailed enough statistic. The issue is that there are gangs traveling from country to country worsening the numbers for all regular immigrants. IV) Immigrants definitely make living more diverse. Especially citys that have more long term immigrants are more diverse. At least in the citys I have been, I didn’t notice the UK problem of separate cultures. They felt integrated.
Conclusion: Immigrants are not an issue. However, detailed statistics are necessary to evaluate immigrant crimes. I suspect that locking down on criminal gangs is important. Anyway, as an average German citizen you have no issues with crimes whatsoever as they are quite rare.
What do you like to do?
I like bouldering, visiting castles, museums and such.
What do you have in your town?
Can’t tell you what exactly but the largest museum of it’s kind.
Berlin or Munich?
Neither. If you visit big citys, you are not visiting another country, but another shade of grey. Of those two, I would pick Munich however.
yea that was too easy. I predicted China making a move on Taiwan as a response to that because USA has no argument anymore.
absolutely fair. I don’t know that much about France tbh and from my little research I had only trivial predictions. I wanted something a bit more risky. We will see how it goes :)
Tbh. I thought about adding a war for turkey (to distract), but I don’t know enough to make an informed guess.
I know, I know. A risky one. They are taking a lot of debt to please people in 2026 so I took a bet.
Waiting for 2027 and then evaluating was the plan. I don’t see that as a problem. It’s not a real bingo chart so I don’t have to finish fast.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What are the pronouns they/them in your language?
121·17 days agoIn German there is nothing established. The most common one I have heard which is still unknown by most is “en/en” (not sure if written correctly).
I didn’t know how to write it, but it also crossed my mind. “TschüÜSCH!” felt very wrong.
Wow! or Wahnsinn! or Krass! - German

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Will an anti advertisement movement ever materialize?
8·30 days agoDepends. Fediverse challenges advertisement. Adblockers challenge advertisement. People switching to piracy after amazon and netflix pushing for more adds challenges advertisements.
Is there a united movement? No. But that’s partly because those that do care have an adblocker and rarely see ads.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Is there a good place to share modern Xmas songs across the Fediverse? (I'll lead off with a couple...)
1·1 month agoCan you make it a playlist and add all suggested songs? Would love to hear through them
It’s like a second penis. Interesting, Unnecessary, Sonething to not pull out in public and to keep away from kids.
If I could press a button to make all religions disappear, I would.
Back in the days I was an anti-theist. Nowadays I just hate religion and think it did primarily bad things. (btw. in Germany the catholic church tried to sue someone for calling them “children-fucker-cult” and they failed - primarily because of formalities though; case is a bit more complex than that but who cares)

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Out of ten, how would you rate your ability to empathize with people with opposing viewpoints?
1·2 months ago9.5 However, just because I can doesn’t mean I have to. I had discussions with a traditional Nazi, with an antisemite, with Corona deniers, … I’ve studied philosophy which teaches you to take other viewpoints to understand the inconsistencies.
But doing it for a long time is extremely exhausting which is why I refuse to discuss renewable energy with my father; who’s not categorically wrong on that topic but narrow minded and only educates himself as much as needed to believe some convenient half-truths.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What's the last song you found that was so good you had to let it play on repeat a couple times?
2·3 months agohttps://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dv-1JmzU0Pw
It is a german song to rile up oldfolk that feels threaten by the young. It just really hit home as my father is a big sceptic of renewable energy and repeats again and again that we will see how this will ruin the economy. I am just exhausted

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What's an example of something that usually goes unnoticed when done well but very noticeable when done poorly or not done at all?
34·3 months agoinfrastructure in general - even beyond IT. No one sits at home thinking: The sewer system is great! How reliably my shit vanishes from my toilet! Until it doesn’t.

My post is not a classical bingo - not a race to bingo first. Bingo is just the template that holds the predictions. I agree in general though.
