  • So operating systems are huge, they do a lot of things. They require a lot of memory and storage and some of their tasks like connecting to devices and generating images take up resources. They run a lot of programs at any given time to do all these tasks.

The kernel is a computer program but think of it as the MAIN program. It’s at the core of a computer’s operating system. It’s the first program the hardware loads when you turn the computer on and it has complete control over everything in the system. It is the portion of the operating system code that is always running, always in RAM, and closing it crashes the entire computer or shuts it down. The kernel connects the hardware to the software. A full kernel controls all hardware resources (RAM, data from keyboard and mouse, data to graphics card and therefore screen), and manages all the programs running. It gives each program access to memory and the processor and even the internet. The kernel prioritizes programs and those requests.

  • Melatonin helps. It’s a natural chemical your brain releases to help make you drowsy at bedtime and you can get it over the counter to help sleep. It also resets your biological clock which makes it helpful for jet lag.

That with noise cancelling headphones or earplugs, a sleep mask to cover the eyes, and laying as flat as possible (even paying for business class) all help.

  • Because people are not caricatures and don’t have 100% agreement with one political side or another. That’s why you have some Democrats who oppose gun control and some Republicans who support abortion. Politics is a spectrum, not something to pidgeonhole people into.

This isn’t hard if you understand the words and their meanings.

  • Not this again. Just because you can end a war faster by intentionally targeting civilians doesn’t mean it’s ever going to be moral or ethical. The U.S. government considers that act terrorism by definition.

I’m not going to relitigate the whole argument again. The U.S. government knew women and children were in the cities and the military proceeded to nuke the cities instead of an uninhabited because they wanted to show off the power of the weapon and observe the level of urban damage it could do.
