Each instance is its own server/website but the servers talk to each other.
People and companies can both host their own instances though I am not aware of any servers owned by businesses.

If someone shut down an instance all the posts that have already been federated will still be on the other servers that instance has connected to but there will be no new posts.

The Fediverse in general does have instances owned by companies like how Mozzilla has its own Mastodon server.
I also think the Owners of wordpress also showed interest in the fediverse though I am not sure if they went anywhere with that.

I always use Boiled water when using ceremonial grade matcha. There is matcha sets you can get that comes with a special bowl as well as a matcha scoop and a Chasen which is a special whisk just for matcha.

If I wanted kids I would look into adopting but I have heard that is really complicated.

True it is why you don’t smile at a Gorilla. Though you can go to far in the other direction as well and assume all other animals cant feel any emotions and attribute happiness and pain as a human thing when in reality different animals express happiness differently.

I have noticed this to. I think this article is a good example of them not giving animals enough credit.
