So only for people who serve the state, not for people who served the neighbors without official capacity.
Translates to “not for people we could not control” pretty readily.

Wild. I will keep that in mind if I ever have a drink with either of them at a politcal fund-raising party.

History suggests you would want a very competent head of security, because some rich nepo babies wouldn’t like what you were doing.

What an incendiary thing to say!
Can someone tell me what Jack Black said? I bet it was provocative!
Edit: Oh - Was Jack blacklisted for associating with Kyle?
Well, I guess those boys finally fell from the political good graces they so carefully maintained for so long.
Still, if Jack said anything rude about anyone powerful, I would like to hear it so that I can consider it in my future judgments.

Linux, MacOS and Windows have been completely rewritten multiple times across their existence.
So it’s not like the original decisions are all still in play.
Windows and Mac OS were rewritten under some particular weird duresses of closed source profit driven engineering; so it has been a mix of improvements and seemingly illogical setbacks.
Linux developers still need to eat, so some of the same (corporate) influences are there.
But the average engineer who sets out to create a brand new completely modern operating system - usually decides to reuse any components of Linux that they don’t have any concerns with…
Which usually gives us yet another cool new Linux variant.
But sometimes we get…
A cool new FreeBSD variant!
Strictly speaking, we only have to govern the billionaires if we don’t just eat them…so it’s kind of a run-off between how easy to govern they decide to be, and how they taste…
(This is solely meant to humorous, officer, your honor.)

Somehow it’s difficult for me to remember what I like?
I used to have mini-panic attacks when asked what I prefer.
Now, I just have memorized good enough responses that I won’t be unhappy with later.
Is that strange?
I’m told it’s not usual. So I guess so?

Does that make me non-human?
Nah. Human experience is much more varied than most people ever realize.
It does make you interesting.

I think a lack of enthusiasm has been kinda the default for me for as long as I remember
I’ve had life phases like that.
It doesn’t bother me as much, today, as it did, in the past.
Now, I focus on the things worth avoiding while I wait for my enthusiasm to return.
For me, enthusiasm returns, in bursts, eventually.

Amazon spent around 20 billion dollars cornering every conceivable market, and then successfully made all that money and more back by becoming the default online store for a huge number of people.
Investors want to recreate that unprecedented return on their investment.
But since Amazon already sells every real worthwhile product… remaining untapped markets included only new products of questionable worth.
Of the available new questionable products, AI is a really interesting one.
Now these investors have spent over $200 billion. And they have promised all that money back and much more.
Getting their investment back is important enough to these powerful influential investors that whether you or I actually want or need AI does not matter, to them.
These investors will strong arm everyone they have influence over until either they make their money back or they go broke.

Thank you for your wisdom, Comrade Shark Fucker.

Yes. And the awkward social situation is when they ask what I’m wearing, but I didn’t pay any attention to the brand of the urinal mat.
I don’t want that to happen again, so now I’m careful to take note of the urinal mat branding.
I tolerate continued existence out of a morbid sense of curiosity.
That’s beautiful, in it’s own way.
I felt that way at one point. It led me, eventually, to moments that I later decided mattered very much, to me.
If I hadn’t had that morbid curiosity, I’m not sure I would have made it to those moments I now cherish.
Here’s to morbid curiosity!
a picture of Reagan with quotes of how Russia is the enemy, and tariffs are bad for everybody.
That’s particularly good.

This seems like a job for a WordPress blog or GitHub pages.

What do I do if adult tells me they want to play with hot wheels with me? I say yes.
Fuck yeah. Hot wheels are great.

I hate investing
Mutual Funds / Index funds are your best bet. (Look for descriptive words like “broad”, “mix” or “full market” in the description).
If you can, pick out one named “target retirement YYYY” with YYYY being within a few years of whatever year you will turn 67.
It will automatically follow investing best practices based on your current age - agrressive earlier, and very cautious later.
I’m not familiar with all the details of how it works
Perfect recipe to get ripped off. (Most people I know say that insurance/investment combined products suck. I’ve heard some disagreement whether they’re just a bad deal, or such a bad deal they ought to be a crime.)

I can’t prove anything, but:
What I have laid out is not proof that today’s billionaires are directing their staff to verbally attack minorites at any opportunity.
But it certainly is something to think about next time a vicious rumor about a minority group comes along.
Edit: Yes. I do understand that neither men nor women are minorities. But there’s still enough differences to allow pushing a divisive narrative, which I suspect is enough reason for certain motivated people.
And to the “could just be a shitty set of incentives” argument. Fair enough. It could be. It’s highly suspicious, but it could be.

Would you accept “under-regulated capitalism” or “capitalism treated as an ideal rather than a tool” as a more specific root cause?
Lots of organizations have a “ooh scary Linux” server or two that they rely on, but failed to retain the talent needed to maintain it. If you’ve been running desktop Linux, and know some basic command line tools, you’re way ahead of most people they will interview for the role.
The downside is that they might feel that they can maybe just keep ignoring their problem for another year, and some will.
