Thank you, I really appreciate the feedback. Honestly, I might look into it a bit more, more likely with your advice. I am mostly worried about customers, so I always kind of figured I’d start tiny, find space for myself and some friends, if there turns out to be interest, I could expand. But I’ve never found enough folks who want something like that…
I should do some actual research and asking around if there’s a market for such a service. Anyone, feel free to tell me what a great or terrible idea it is.

I don’t want to setup an ISP, not exactly. I have a dream to setup a consumer/home/hobbyist colo facility; I’d love to offer nerds like me a place to host their personal projects. Been self hosting in my basement for years and would LOVE such a place, where I could stash my stack in a reliable, performant but reasonably priced space. It doesn’t need the security nor enterprise grade stuff that a typical colo has, could even just be in an office, with lockers or something.
I just have no capital, nor any idea how to get something like this off the ground. Probably would instantly go out of business anyway given energy prices today.

I say may, only because there are edge cases and exceptions to the rule. Few and far between I’ll grant you.
Still, unresolved parental issues need a partner too, so no skin off my nose…

I think it’s kinda weird and likely indicates that one or both have some unresolved parental issues. I even may silently judge, but it’s none of my business otherwise.

I already have my nodes up and running. It’s been picking up like mad lately, much more chatter than this time last year.

Oh come on now, the dems give everyone on their side a pass. Look at Al Franken, what he did was way worse than anything in the Epstein files and got off scott free.
Er, wait…that is what happened, right?

I mean, the reason is that it’s one of the main ingredients of mirepoix, and most people don’t find it offensive. It’s one of those background flavors that you don’t pick out, but is part of the typical base.
What I’m getting at is that if you don’t like it, just don’t use it. It’s there because whoever made it, decided to put it in.
Now, I’m sure there are all kinds of explanations about the enzymes, and the fiber and so on, but it’s soup, doesn’t have to be complicated. Just delicious :)

Celery is genuinely one of my favorite parts of soups that use them. I LOVE the flavor or celery, and it is even better when it picks up the rest of the flavors of the dish.
To answer yours and the other questions about “why this ingredient”, the answer is very simple. Some people like it.
If you don’t, then don’t use it, problem solved.

Man it’s fallen off a cliff. Many years ago I bought a knockoff Chinese messenger bag from Amazon. It’s fantastic, great materials, good quality zipper, it’s held up to daily use for years and looks even better than when I got it (leather developed a nice patina).
So, I needed another bag, went looking for the same brand as mine. No longer there, but there are 75 identical looking but weirdly named brands instead. I found one that looked as similar as I could to my old bag, and this one is an utter piece of shit. I mean, I’ll use it, it’s a duffle bag so not as much use as the messenger bag, but the difference is stark. Stiff, cheap cloth, leather sure, but probably harvested entirely from cow buttholes, zippers look brass, but one zip and the color wore off…
Everything, even purchased goods have enshittified. Everything looks cool but just absolutely sucks.

which is a nonconformist
Thank you for this, it puts it in terms that make a lot of sense. This really helps explain a phenomenon I see so often. I know a few folks who are certainly not pro-trump, but are very anti-political. I’ve been told that I need to shut up, and things would be fine once the next election rolls around.
These folks might not like what’s happening, but they are fine conforming to it.
Maybe it’s a me problem, but I think it’s going to take a little more work than the bare minimum.

I have a google voice number for that. Most things no longer accept it though.

I had delusions of trying to keep track of which address is sold by who which is why I did the hide my email addresses. But I’ve always kept separate personal and spam accounts. This was my attempt at combining to a single account.

Illogical meat brain that thinks odd numbers are more random that even I guess.

Don’t get me wrong, there are systems that work. I built up a very successful smart card based system many years ago after a failed audit. I initially hated the idea but in the end we built a crazy secure environment that was very easy to use and maintain. That project is long since obsolete but after doing that one, over a decade ago, I figured things were headed in the right direction.
I think I’m extra sensitive right now because my aging mom has made the issue acute. She’s not the same as she was a few years ago and helping her with all her online accounts has become a nightmare. It’s just too complicated for many folks.

Yeah, I’m up to 40 hide my addresses for that same reason. Figure if the password sucks, at least the email can be unique and obscure.

This shit pisses me off so bad. I had an identity theft a few years back, took ages to undo, and my credit score is still impacted by it. At the time I moved to a password manager and all my passwords are 31 characters of garbage. I’ve got several, highly sensitive accounts that my passwords don’t work for, in fact one a bank, until fairly recently, had repurposed a phone number field in the DB so passwords were limited to 10 characters numeric only (I managed to get one of their IT folks on the horn to explain why the password was so awful).
I cannot believe we live in 2025 and we still haven’t figured out passwords.

The fact that someone even asks this question tells me there is something deeply wrong with the culture these days. No shade on you OP, I’m sure you are a good person. But it’s obvious that corporate propaganda has worked extremely well.
No, absolutely not, you are well within your rights to buy off brand and second hand equipment. Heck, I consider it a moral victory in avoiding the hellish markups the big brands put on their consumables.
Push back when kind of question comes up, we have to counter the propaganda, otherwise it will soon become law. I’m certain home tool manufacturers would move to a printer ink model in a heartbeat. It’s bad enough that there isn’t a universal battery mount as it is.
