    Is not always New York, Marvel puts its movies in New York as a form of running gag. Their first office was there.

    Superman movie are more in California.

      Superman’s Metropolis (?) is based on Cleveland (and the last movie was filmed there)

        If you want to get technical, the original Metropolis, was Toronto Canada, where Joe Shuster wrote for the newspapers the Globe and Mail and Star Daily (which in his comics he combined into the “Daily Planet”), and Smallville was Halifax where he often spent time with family. He kind of shifted it to more closely match Cleveland after he moved to the US, but there’s a reason his fortress of solitude is in the Canadian arctic.

      The original Marvel comics from the 1960s were all set in New York City, except for the Hulk, who roamed the US Southwest.

      DC comics from that era spread the action in a variety of made-up cities, like Gotham, Metropolis, Ivy Town, Coast City and the like. Wonder Woman was based in Washington DC
