I recently tried to join Mastodon, and like Twitter before it, I don’t understand the premise. You follow individuals instead of topics, and if you try to follow hashtags they change on a whim all the time so you’re unlikely to get relevant posts.

Am I missing something, or is the purpose just to shout your opinions into the void? Could any Twitter/Mastodon users explain it to me like I’m 4?

Lol I know. And it’s just filled with people in their opinions. Like I don’t care about you dude I just want to answer questions and give advice on topics and categories and stuff. I don’t care about how you feel about fosteroid and shit like that.

Maybe I don’t want a revolution. Maybe I just want a simple program that I can get news and follow a few people whos opinions I want to read.

But Naw I’m sure you’re right and everyone else just wants the wrong thing.
