Wow that’s a very low pressure wash.

scytale@piefed.zipto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Is it realistic to hope that lemmy grows to the size of the bigger social media platforms?English5·14 days agoI don’t think so. The barrier to entry is pretty low but the average internet user still can’t get over it, so I don’t think it will ever become mainstream.
scytale@piefed.zipto homeassistant@lemmy.world•Recomend a Mini PC to host home assistant onEnglish3·16 days agoI have the same bluetooth keyboard. lol
Up until my mid-twenties, yes. Lived in a tropical country and no A/C, just fans. I only started using a blanket when I finally lived in a place with A/C.
I use a Mammotion Mini for my backyard which I got at a pretty big discount during Memorial Day sales. I don’t have HA, but it seems there’s some work going on for integration: https://community.home-assistant.io/t/mammotion-luba-integration/604662/63.
It does require internet access though, and I put it in my isolated guest vlan to be safe. I haven’t tried running it without an internet connection yet. Obviously this doesn’t meet all your requirements, but I can at least attest that the mower itself is pretty good. Good luck on your search!
scytale@piefed.zipto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Is it okay to eat after brushing in the nightEnglish4·1 month agoOne time, probably fine. But I would avoid doing it all the time. Food remnants just sitting in there for 6-8 hours while you sleep is not good.

scytale@piefed.zipto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•My wife put the shit pusher in the dish washerEnglish30·1 month agoSimilar to the blood-brain barrier, we have a kitchen-bathroom barrier policy. Tools for each space should never cross, even cleaning tools. So even brushes for the sinks are separate.
scytale@piefed.zipto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Should I unplug my smart tv from the internet?English6·1 month agoOtherwise I may prefer to have them leak my viewing habits from a TV that only ever uses streaming apps than having access to my PC where I do a bunch of other stuff and log in to a bunch of services that may be subject to tracking.
That’s the sliding scale you’re talking about. Threat modeling isn’t black and white, it depends on what the person’s risk profile is. Yours is not wanting to expose your laptop. Others don’t want their tv monitoring their activity, and would prefer to transfer the risk to their laptop and browser where they have more control of the medium their streaming site goes through and they can cut off the tv manufacturer.
If you didn’t have a sliding scale, you’d be a hermit with no internet access at all.
scytale@piefed.zipto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Should I unplug my smart tv from the internet?English7·1 month agoI guess it may cut off Samsung or LG out of the loop, if you have a particular grudge with them specifically, but that’s about it.
That’s what people are trying to avoid, the unnecessary data collection by the TVs themselves. I don’t think anyone is saying watching netflix on a laptop is more private than on a tv, and even then, using a browser with uBO can still block some tracking on streaming sites vs using their apps on a tv.

scytale@piefed.zipto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What movie did you see too young that still haunts you to this day?English8·1 month agoFire in the Sky. Still haven’t rewatched it decades later.
scytale@piefed.zipto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Whatever happened to the blockchain/smart contract 'revolution' we were told about?English3·1 month agoLike I said, not an expert. Also, regardless if it’s a revolutionary solution to something or not, it doesn’t negate the point that it was made to be used for something, but it’s being indirectly used for something else instead.
scytale@piefed.zipto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Whatever happened to the blockchain/smart contract 'revolution' we were told about?English424·1 month agoNot an expert, but IMO, it’s because it was misused. Cryptocurrency is just one application of blockchain technology, but people equated blockchain to crypto, and crypto was turned into an investment scheme instead of an actual currency. Then came NFTs, which people turned into rugpull scams. And news of the volatility of cryptocurrency and all those NFT scams drove away any chance of regular people adopting anything blockchain-related.
scytale@piefed.zipto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•What do you think is the largest number a human can actually grasp / truly comprehend?English11·1 month agoAnything over a couple million probably. People can comprehend the largest amount with money (instead of apples for example). The fact that most people don’t realize how big of a difference a billion is to a million shows that the average person can really comprehend only up to maybe 7 or 8 digits.

scytale@piefed.zipOPto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Can anyone help id these shoes?English11·1 month agoAmazing! I was gonna post it in the barefoot shoes and barefoot running community but wasn’t really sure if it was actually a barefoot shoe. Thank you so much!
This is my thought as well. Farms are just picking the sweetest ones and breeding those because they get better “yields” in terms of selling their fruit.
