Hehe… Try installing VMware Player or Genshin Impact in Fedora! (Those are my two most recent headaches.) Any OS can be a pain, it just seems like Linux is getting friendlier every year and Microsoft becomes more overtly the enemy.

I just got top work and asked a senior tech: 24H2 + a 25H2 enablement package to make bypassnro still work for us. Geez.

Huh, that’s weird that I’ve been able to use the bypass NRO trick pretty consistently at work and at home… I should have mentioned the Rufus thing too, but he was doing this as a reset, not as a new install, so I didn’t.

Reset, once it’s done downloading (if you go cloud), pull your network cable. When it gets to “let’s get you online” hit shift f-10 which pulls up the terminal window. Type oobe\bypassnro and hit enter. Stay offline, and get back to the same spot in the install process but this time you’ll have a “I don’t have internet” link as an option. It’ll protest, but you can then move forward with a local account. I literally did it yesterday.
Once you have a local account built, Windows will give you “sign in” alerts in settings and in security.
Just for the record, I use Linux. I do however work in a Windows shop and understand that “just use Linux” isn’t at all helpful when someone asks a Windows question.
Can I recommend pocketknife? There’s a guy who writes hilarious reviews of knives. Only about one a week, but weird knife Wednesday is almost as high on my list of fun stuff as Taco Tuesday!
My local library has career coaches. They go over results, do mock interviews, but the career coach at my library? He’s a straight up headhunter, and he gets the best walk-ins referred to HR at companies that fit. I had a buddy who was four months unemployed, suggested he talk to the career coach, and dude got him a job in less than two weeks. Also, maybe look at non-profits in your area, might have volunteer or low-paid psych jobs that can get a foot in the door.

My parents lived in a part of the world where they didn’t always have phones. Dad lived on a farm, mom lived in town. School together, Church together. After school, Dad would go “help around the house” at mom’s. Or vice versa. Once they got old enough, one or the other would go to the city in the family car for shopping, and bring the other with. Go see a movie, grab a bite to eat together.
Okay, I did! How do I attach a recording to a comment in Lemmy?
I might be a bot. Those “I’m not a bot” puzzles? Tricky!

Saved me 150$ in shop fees.

I just got my first post secondary at mid-40’s, and lucked into a very sweet job… Hell of a gamble but it did pay off for me. Still, I’m now the junior employee in a tight field and back to the bottom of the pay scale. I might be regretting it in a few years. Flip side, I ran in to some of my old co-workers recently… They are universally eyeing the exit.

Get one of those kid’s seats for the bike, get a large stuffed… Tiger? Yeah, Tiger. Put the hat on the Tiger, strap the Tiger into the kid’s seat. Nobody will mock the Tiger for not wearing a helmet.

Lemmy IS the sub-community! I suspect that you and I would have at least a few disagreements then! Hah!

I liked the variety and sheer volume of content on the other one, but I have had a lot less of those horrible interactions on Lemmy. I kind of like it being small town.
I’m not frugal, just a cheapskate. I have an i5 NUC that I got for 225$ Canadian, so like 16$ USD… (I exaggerate.) I got an old 1080p projector from an Electronics Recycling in town for 125$ CAD, and a receiver at an auction. No remote and the HDMI in was busted, 40$. So I used a USB sound card with optical out. (Another 40$.) Speakers from goodwill. The wall I project to is already white. I have an Ikea Kallax with the receiver and the projector right behind my couch. Speaker wire is scrap cat5 cable from work. The subwoofer has an annoying buzz at the moment, but it was 20$ from Goodwill, so… Otherwise, it’s big, bright, loud. I cobbled it together over a few months, but it’s a great setup and very cheap.
Not stupid at all. I think I read that Disney has something like that for charging communications equipment at the parks. (I could be remembering wrong, I am internet brain-addled.) You know the crazies would hate it, though. Smart money says that there’s an entirely port-free iPhone in the next five years.

Cantook used to be called Aldiko, and it was literally the first ebook Reader I ever got for Android. I don’t know if it’s the best, but it opens epubs and lets me set dark mode and use the volume buttons as page turn, and doesn’t gum up e-ink with animations, so it’s ideal for the Hisense. I don’t know why it only has 2/5.

Climbed a tree, tried to jump to the next tree. Failed. Fortunately, I snagged a wasp nest on the way down. Nothing broken, anaphylaxis. Not breathing sucks. (I lived.)

I always wanted to try catfish, and there was a restaurant I really like that does everything else really well, so I tried it and… Nah. Tasted like fishy dirt meat. I’ve had bad duck, too.
Yeah, I would do the same… Loving toolbox! I have to support some clients with VMWare though…
