Is this loss?

I mean… Look at the news any day of the week.
Americans on the whole are incapable of understanding history at even the most surface level.

It should be when you decide to abbreviate your currency “PHP”.

Remember the quote:
“If conservatives become convinced that they cannot win democratically, they will not abandon conservatism. They will reject democracy.”
Well, “If MAGAs become convinced their leaders are pedophiles, they won’t abandon their leaders, they’ll abandon being anti-pedophilia.”

Feels like more of a Diogenes era to me.

I hate to say it, but there’s no fast answer to that question.
The best answer seems to be what most smart countries are doing right now… slowly unwinding their dependency on the US and finding alternative suppliers for everything critical they need so they can get the leverage they need to criticize and resist. This has the added benefit of isolating the US economically, reducing its currency’s ability to influence things.
Over time the US will grow less and less able to throw its weight around, and eventually a tipping point will be reached where picking an ideological fight with the US won’t have a major impact. That’s when the US will be stopped.

Joke’s on you… I was already barely surviving.

If you seriously had any interest in engagement, you wouldn’t be using EXTREMELY domain specific language in an attempt to sound smarter than everyone else. You’d be explaining, in laymen’s terms, exactly what your suspicion is in an accessible way the way ANY real expert in their field is trained to do from day one. Instead you’re either an actual expert who is extremely poor at the communicative aspect of your job, or a troll here to sow dissent and cloud the conversation. Either way, I’m appreciative that you read the room and decided to leave of your own initiative. It shows a level of awareness neither of your prior posts had, and it’s refreshing.

That’s not true.
He said smart people don’t like him.

“opposing viewpoints” is too broad a term for the question to be meaningful.
It could mean everything from “Discovery is the best Star Trek series” to “Women aren’t real people”, and the details of the viewpoint in question are EXTREMELY relevant to your ability to empathize with it.

I am convinced he could molest his supporters’ children right in front of them and they’ll find a way to make themselves believe it was justified.
There is literally no less logical form of life than a MAGA.

There are more assholes than good people because assholery typically delivers better results in terms of wealth, power, and status, and good people have to accept a lower social status in order to maintain their goodness, but most people don’t fall into either category.
But the vast majority of people fall into an apathetic middle ground where they don’t really think too much about any kind of moral consistency and act according to paths they’re already on and the rules those paths require.

Oh, when I said “when she did it”, I don’t mean when she shot her puppy, I meant when she bragged about it.

Way ahead of you. I’ve known this since she did it.

It takes a special kind of wishful thinking to think that any CEO is UNAWARE that their customers hate them.
Not a single one thinks any of these decisions are well-received.
They do it because people keep turning RIGHT AROUND and spending their money and attention anyway.
It’s a special kind of Stockholm Syndrome digital slavery because people can LITERALLY just walk away and choose not to.
