Definitely an annoying situation, I guess maybe you could try posting about the problems that you see with Snapchat, like with articles and whatnot, whenever you have a chance, and maybe just trying to get them to change their stance on it. For me personally, leaving Snapchat was a privacy and ethics choice - and anyone who wouldn’t respect that, good riddance. I only really have two friends myself. I enjoy it usually. I get to spend lots more time with them, and an exchange have a deeper connection. Its not for everyone though.

Maybe you could keep talking them on Snapchat, but also on the other platform too. Are they really just completely unwilling to get on something like signal? you don’t even need to make an account really

I was in the same situation as you. Just message them elsewhere and delete it. Everyone who wasn’t willing to message me on a better platform turned out to not be that worth interacting with. All the real ones did what they could to keep talking to me without hesitation and respected my reasoning

This is why it really sucks that app developers offering their APKs directly isn’t more common, forces people to turn to sites like this. I’ve installed apps from apkmirror just because I want to avoid Google Play. I don’t really understand why there isn’t some third party app store that helps lift the hosting+verification burden from developers but still doesn’t rely on randos uploading apks from gplay.

What a great world it would be if every time you went to some software’s website with an app, they had that “download from google play” button right next to a “download from <this other legit Store>” button so you know its their real account, and a “download apk” button, because why not put some faith in users?

So can other people even see the post? Can I view other posts by most recent, or any other order? I think there’s appeal to the idea of anonymously confessing things. 4chan and many other imageboards are built on this. Can also do it on many other websites by just making alt accounts. I think you need to more clearly think through what unique benefit your proposed idea would provide.

Honestly everything other than variety and scale of communities. It’s not as big of a compliment as it sounds like though - Reddit is almost unspeakably shitty. Pay a visit to the front page or whatever they call it now and be greeted by nothing but ragebait, hornybait, gender war content, political discussion with zero critical or individual thinking, and 500 popular communities that are completely undifferentiated because they form a singular bland monoculture circle jerk that just repackages the day’s hot topic in whatever shoehorned way it can into every subreddit (Lemmy is starting to do this too though yay…). The only difference between it and tiktok is the UI tbh

Yeah. Reddit is technologically very bland. It’s “easy” to make a Reddit clone - the community is what makes it tick. But YouTube needs crazy levels of infrastructure to provide the full experience that it does. When Reddit collapses there’s places to migrate to. But if YouTube collapses it’s just a loss.

Bruh. This is truly surprising. I feel like for a phone like this, it must be like 90% of the target market that would hate this? Seems like an unimaginably bad business decision. Of course, if FB gave them enough money, then this is kinda like taking a bribe to stop competing.
