  • Clémence Guetté, Vice President of France’s National Assembly, submitted a parliamentary resolution calling for France to withdraw from NATO’s integrated command structure, citing President Trump’s threats to seize Greenland from NATO ally Denmark as evidence the US-led alliance threatens world peace.

So one politician from France submitted a resolution in the French government to do it.

    And you…

You honestly and legitimately think that is the same thing as:

I saw France had proposed an initiative to withdraw because of the US’ shenanigans

Like, you didn’t just go and try to find a source but didn’t read it. You just don’t understand how what that says and what you said are vastly different things?

  • I’ll admit that I don’t really know how that works, or how it’s enforced, or whatever

They almost always mean “economic sanctions”.

Cutting them off from “western banking”…

Essentially not letting them buy/sell any stocks in the western market.

Which unfortunately is headquartered in NYC, explaining why it’s the NY Stock Exchange.

There are others, Europe has 5 worth over a trillion each and some others, Asia has the NICA index. But the American NYSE is worth over 25 trillion. It’s the big one.

But trump personally would be very hard to sanction in other markets, because he’s so shady banking institutions usually won’t deal with him. It’s why he pivoted to crypto.

He does have some money in NYSE, but that’s overseen by the SEC, and trump won’t sanction himself.

Ironically what we’d see is tarrifs. America doesn’t make shit, and can’t afford to buy a lot of stuff now. So other big buyers can pressure the “producer countries” into marking up anything that goes in/out of America.

  • His leadership position was voted on before the DNC chair.

So his threats to cut off funding to the state of any Dems that wouldn’t back him still had some teeth.

It doesn’t now, mainly because the DNC immediately jumped into the largest twin esture into state parties, ever.

He’s been a lame duck all but maybe a month of this senate leadership term, and will almost certainly lose it next year.

    If he doesn’t, it’s a bad sign.

  • It might have already happened…

Capturing a foreign leader you’re not at war with like this is a huge fucking deal, but it hasn’t even been 24 hrs yet, we can’t act like there won’t be a response.

Not anything overt, but our election system is sloppy as fuck.

Why wouldn’t foreign governments start using all the loopholes to pay (relatively) nothing to limit his powers in midterms and get rid of him in the presidential? A couple million thru a PAC isn’t even really breaking any laws, and compared to the cost of the chaos from trump, it’s a no brainer decision.

It’s why turnout for primaries is so important. We have to ensure that the people who make it to the general are going to be good in office.

  • Patriotism is fine, like it’s even a good thing.

Because it’s about being proud of your country, for the good shit it’s doing.

Nationalism is bad, because it ignores reality and is just belligerent yelling that their country is the best while disregarding facts and repeating propaganda.

Like, Norewegians are proud to be from Norway, because they have a great society that looks after the weakest, that’s patriotic and something we should strive towards.

That’s different than a trump supporter flying flags and laughing at how much people with empathy are upset, that’s nationalism.

There’s a reason we have two separate words for it, but the fascists keep wanting to erase the differences in usage.

  • the difference is that one is still ongoing while the other ones are largely ridiculed and understood as nonsensical.

    What?

    Loads of people believe both…

It sounds like this is one of those things where you’re just gonna keep saying false things no matter what I explain.

You don’t seem to have any intention to learn and change.

You have an opinion and nothing can change that, which is fucking depressing because loads of people think like that now. So I’m going to block you now because it’s already too much like Idiocracy without running into your willfully ignorant comments again.

  • Bruh…

Fucking ridiculous and western centric as fuck to say Jesus was the first person labeled “god personified”…

Like, the current Japanese emperor is “believed” to be the descendant of a literal god. And that shit took off long before AD or Jesus. But it undoubtedly happened much earlier all over, we just don’t have evidence of pre-historic times, that’s literally why we call that period “before history”.

Doesn’t mean nothing happened, just that we don’t know what was happening, yet.
