I meant it as db0 is not a piefed instance, so the advice about seeing voting on the piefed hub was not relevant to you.

You might not see this, but piefed and db0 are like the Hatfields and McCoys. And OP is a db0 user, so it’s guaranteed they don’t use piefed (not with that account anyway).

I’m sure different mods have their different reasons. Maybe it’s a frail ego, or maybe they’re morally righteous and find downvotes derogatory and demeaning. Who knows how some people think. 🤷♂️
Also, you’re thinking of Lemvotes. In my experience, it doesn’t always work for all instances. Hell, there’s been my own posts that on .world that I couldn’t pull up.

So what’s the threshold to say when something that compresses is compressible?
Either way, learn how the block button works, then use it.
You do realize that spam texts use spoofed numbers, and blocking does no good because the next spam text will be from a different number?

I’ve noticed that the more obvious something is, the more I don’t understand it. 🤷♂️
~I have a bad habit of second-guessing myself and overthinking things.~

You might disagree, but that doesn’t mean you’re right. A signature does not require cursive. It doesn’t even have to be legible. It’s a mark that you make signifying that you agree to whatever it is you’re signing.

Do you hear yourself right now? That is the oldest, most snake-oil bullshit anybody could ever come up with. And here you are doubling down on it and acting like your so-called insider information makes you somehow wise and all-knowing.
Seriously, I want you to stand in front of the mirror and say what you said to yourself.
Go. Try it. Bet that won’t cost anybody their job.
The only ass showing seems to be coming from you. But I expect you won’t understand that at all.
Peace out dog. ✌️
The question was answered. You just asked a narrow-scoped yes or no question (with the expectation that people would read your mind and somehow know you wanted to know “why” as well). That is your fault, not theirs.
You asked a question about a belief and got an answer about somebody’s belief. And what did you do? You felt the need to swat down that answer because what? You think it wasn’t good enough? That’s garbage man.

This is the beauty and downside to open source. Anybody can force their political views in their software. But once discovered, it can be forked and fixed.
It’s a shame that everything has become so politicized that people feel the need to shove their religious political beliefs down everyone else’s throats. Yeah, we all know who the Bad Guys™ are; we don’t need to be constantly reminded.
Give users their voices back (or at least choice in what they want to see and block). It’s the decent thing to do. Anything else makes you a certified asshole.
I said what I said.

I sit and do nothing. Maybe nap if I’m tired enough. But mostly nothing.

This hurts my heart. If I were to say there was any “failure” (I use that term loosely here), it’s that you obviously deprived your child of the joy that is Tetris.
But, fear not! It’s never too late.
~In case it isn’t obvious, this comment is meant to be lighthearted. Y’all do y’all. 💙~

This. It has been depicted many times that for deep space exploration, Superman uses a space suit.

From my personal experience, not all VPM IPs are blocked. So you may need to cycle through your VPN until you find one that isn’t blocked by LemmyWorld.
I used to use PIA, and I have an app for my kids’ school grades, and I could never connect to the app when on the VPN. But then I switched to Mullvad, and now I can use the app (some locations still don’t work, but most do).
If you can’t use the apps you need while using Nord, you may want to consider another provider.
It’s frustrating, but a lot of websites and apps are blocking VPNs.

Here is the announcement from a couple of years ago:
You also forgot how scientist is required to publish regularly to keep their job, and to find new jobs. So this process is far from optional.
That aside, that was an excellent write up. You should publish that to a journal or something. 😏
Coincidentally, OOP just explained academic publishing to a T.
Here’s a silly idea: cut out two strips of paper for the sizes in question, and wear them on your watch wrist. See which one feels better to you.
