  • For me personally it’s unfamiliarity. Technically all my devices and networks use IPv6. But I just enabled it in my router and used my hosting company’s configuration.

But one of my servers at home should be reachable from the internet but that is only through IPv4. Configuring port forwarding through my router was intuitive and straight forward. But for IPv6 I have to allow the port to be open, but I don’t want it to be the standard port so I have to configure the corresponding service on the machine itself to listen with a specific port on a specific address. But I have no idea what each of the addresses it has mean.

I think some of them are purely internal, some temporary, some less so. And if I ever found out what to use I would then have to configure my DynDNS, which is currently just pointing to the public IPv6 address of my router but not to the server I would want to reach.

I could learn all these things. But I just can’t be bothered because the IPv4 stuff still works.

  • My father is a sports pilot. As a child I flew very often with him. I puked almost all the time but I still loved hit. Every plane at his club is marked by my vomit.

Only one time I already felt sick when we arrived at the airfield. He still took me up in a sailplane. In order to stay up in a sailplane you have to constantly fly in circles above fields with warm air. Round and round and round. We were up for 4 hours. I didn’t puke once. By the time we were back down again I wasn’t sick anymore.

  • Those places advertise on door dash because that’s where everyone looks by default.

We don’t have door dash but something similar where they either have the door dash drivers or they forward the order to the restaurants which have their own drivers. And those with their own drivers often will give you the restaurant’s card and ask you to order directly because of the high fees.

Personally I really hate calling so I only order from the restaurant directly when it has a website. Calls just suck because I might have trouble understanding the other’s accent or they mine. And it is much less error prone when everything is in writing. Especially when there are special requests. And not having to juggle payment at the door is a plus as well.

  • That’s what the scaled sort is supposed to solve. It pushes up posts that are popular relative to other posts in their communities. So even if they regularly get 0 upvotes they should still show up.

I use the scaled sort on subscribed together with hiding read posts and marking posts as read when I scroll by. That way I usually see the posts made in smaller communities fairly regularly.
