Bootleg videos have been a thing forever. If we lose the internet, you just need to find your local shady flea market. They have plenty of pirated DVDs for sale.

Turns out I have extra bendy joints and it was only a matter of time before I injured myself.

Years of manual labour jobs for me, personally.

Thanks, I’ll try that out.

Yeah and I just don’t like fries that much anyway. If I get fast-food, I’m getting two value menu burgers, not one regular full meal.

Yeah it’s a great option for people who don’t want children. I hear it isn’t easy for childfree women though. They get refused a lot because “what if you change your mind?!”

If you are done having children or don’t want any. Vasectomies aren’t always reversible.

I have never tried building a PC myself but I have gotten into reviving old ones. I haven’t bought a computer in over a decade. I just inherit people’s old ones and bring them back to life with linux, maybe replace a dead PSU or something. I’m new to hardware stuff. I really wish I knew a way to get these computers into the hands of people who can’t afford to buy one and don’t know how to do this themselves.

I just moved back to a city with decent enough transit and dumped my car and god I’m so much happier. I hate driving and car ownership with a fiery passion.

Is there any add-on for me to get YouTube on Firefox to behave more like the YouTube kids app? I’ve been trying to find a way to set up YouTube with an allowlist on my kids’ computer but for now I just have the entire site blocked. They don’t need YouTube but they watch educational videos on it at school and they want to watch them at home, too. Blocking individual channels is like playing whack-a-mole.

I keep a toothbrush and bottle of toothpaste in the shower because I have atrocious ADHD and that is the only place I ever remember to brush them. It’s literally the one lifehack that I’ve tried that has actually worked. I’ve been doing it for a couple years now and I finally brush my teeth every day after struggling for my entire life.
For me it’s not being able to finish reading someone’s comment before I absolutely must reply. I write so many unnecessary comments that I’d never have written if I just finished reading.
The hyperactivity is in our heads with ADHD inattentive. We aren’t ever paying attention because our brains are thinking about a million other things at any given moment. Unless we are doing something interesting, of course.

GIMP is SO much better than it used to be, too!

At first I was petty. Now I have other things to do with my time so Lemmy has more than enough content.

He is back to normal now thankfully. I can’t say it would always work but it has worked for me. It’s just exhausting and really hard. By the time my sister was going through it (she was the most recent), I was burnt out and did have to stop talking to her for a few months. I don’t regret it though because I still have all of them in my life and they aren’t driving me insane anymore.

Don’t let them have any peace with those opinions. My mother became a cop when I was a kid and she went from tree hugging hippie to loud and proud racist so fast. It took YEARS of arguing and fighting every time she said something racist before I could finally get through to her. Don’t let up. My sister got sucked into transphobic bs too and she finally stopped talking about it after getting a lot of pushback over a couple of years. My husband got sucked into the alt right pipeline in the late 2010s after a lifetime of being hard left. That also took a couple years of never letting anything slide and fighting about every stupid video he watched. Don’t give up on your family and cut them out, either, though, please. I know it’s tempting but I feel we all have the responsibility to pull our loved ones out of the cult. It’s the only way for society to move forward. It’s hard. I know. I’ve done it three times.

Honestly no, I’m not reading your long incoherent rant.

Personally, monetizing my hobbies has always killed them for me. It takes a good few years after moving onto a different job before I can find joy in the hobby again, if ever.
Thankfully I was injured at work and everything was paid for, because even in Canada, I’m not getting that physiotherapy for free.
