I agree with the consensus here- you are thinking about this wrong. Allegra-D, the one behind the counter in my state, is an allergy medicine we use for colds, because it works better than anything labeled as cold medicine.

If you are saying you want something that treats allergies, and by treating them unstuffs your nose, that Allegra-D will work. I don’t understand why you think it won’t. The pseudoephedrine in it (the D in the name) is a vasoconstrictor that will open your nose.

If it’s the same drug labeled as a cold medicine, it would work exactly the same.

That doesn’t happen to me, but I cook for my family every day, usually just once. (So not so infrequently It’s something unusual, but not so often it’s a drag). It’s more like an appetizer or something.

If you have enough sinks, or a big enough pot to soak them in, one soak in hot soapy water, wash them all in the next sink, do your scrub-scrub without rinsing then rinse them all in bulk, then final rinse by dipping them into a sink full of hot water with a little bleach.

Then dry them with a clean towel.

That’s how we hand wash when the dishwasher was broken and someone in the house was sick. Because otherwise my husband will wash them with the water running the whole time.

One of the odd effects I’ve noticed with the last round of inflation is that prices are converging. Cheaper places raised prices more than more expensive places. I never liked McDonald’s - the french fries are good but I’ve never chosen to go there, only had them incidentally. But it was cheap. Not now, it’s more like going anywhere, so why would you go there? As someone else said, I can get tacos down the street, closer than any fast food place and they are pretty fast, or we go to the cafe up the street, they did have inflation but at least the money stays local.

I get a quarterly magazine from the Bruderhof, I would consider that cult Real Christians. They live in community, don’t own things individually, are pacifists, and seem overall to be actual Christians, in the way I understand Christianity.

We have crab cakes, some snacks you heat in the oven (jalapeno poppers and bean empanadas), tinned fish like sardines and similar, and cheese and crackers. And a “champagne” the Cava Raventos Blanc Blanc de blancs which is the best bubbly white wine I have ever had and not even expensive.

New Year’s Day is black eyed peas, collard greens, and potatoes. Yum.

Not good at receiving criticism in the moment, kind of defensive. I can hear it but cannot immediately say “yeah you are right”, it feels more like insult than help. Some of this is leftover hangups from my ex, who was quite cutting, mean about it. But some just my own immature tendencies. I have pretty much learned not to react and wait until I can think about it more objectively.

A house, a car, and enough to pay all the bills and still have some lifestyle, without the terror of knowing you are one job loss away from homelessness and starvation. Able to retire for 25 years before dying.

I think for us (a family not a single person) that really is a million in the bank and 200k per year. We don’t have that, nor do many others.

As a cap? I think nobody needs to accumulate more than 5 million in cash and other assets. Less if you live somewhere with reasonable pension and healthcare.

We do exactly the same as you, with one difference. For bath towels we have 2 sets and alternate them, so as we wash one set, we put out the others and put away the washed ones when done. Only replace if they fall apart, I don’t know how long that takes, maybe 15-20 years? So maybe yes with one set 8-10 years sounds about right?

Kitchen towels wear out faster, harder use and hot water wash with bleach. Bath towels last a long time, cold water wash then dryer.

I am bigger around than a short lady, but proportionally more taller than wider, elongated. I am not sure why it works that way.

What I wonder about more is fat people. My shape is defined by my skeleton, I’m not that skinny but like, my ribcage and hipbones, shoulders are my frame, the outer edges of my body shape. If someone is so fat, how does their body extend far past the bones, what holds it up? Or do they have a wider skeleton?

I had a boyfriend in England, he was Scottish (town southwest of Glasgow) but had lived in Canada, so the accent was muted. I am from Florida with parents from Louisiana so southern but not Southern l. I liked when he got drunk because he got more Scottish and he liked when I got drunk because I sounded Southern.

The worst Mexican food I’ve had was in San Antonio Texas, believe it or not.

Where I live, if you find a hole-in-the-wall Mexican place it will be fantastic, I thought that rule held everywhere. Oh no. No, no, no.

Remarkably bad food, so bad. Mole made with sweetened milk chocolate. American cheese in the enchiladas. Comically bad. Absolute shit food. And outside of that one horrible experience, overall very hit or miss. How? They literally WERE Mexico! I was expecting something so good. The only great food we got there was at a hipster breakfast place.

It’s funny because Tampa does bat way over its league in restaurants generally. We have amazing food here, all over. Why is “the” food that sandwich? It’s good but def overrated.

I agree on lobster because I think crab tastes better.

Agree on truffles, I think they are just expensive because they are rare and fragile, not because they are magically delicious.

People here LOVED Dave’s hot chicken. I went and really, it’s fine, I’d eat it but wouldn’t affirmatively choose it, if getting industrial fried chicken Popeyes and Publix are both better.

And man do people love Cuban Sandwiches here. Again, I will eat them they are fine but mostly because the bread is so good. Would rather just have a roast pork on the bread, dressed, without the ham & salami, or even the cheese toast on Cuban Bread I think is so good. There is nothing magical about the 3 meat combo.

Sopa Tarasca is heavenly.

Simple bean burrito with refried pintos, shredded cheddar cheese, chopped onion & chipotle salsa is something I would eat for breakfast, lunch or supper.

Respectfully disagree, I do rate it highly and think it belongs there. Even the simple stuff (if by mush you mean refried beans) is seasoned well and delicious. Tasty mush.

His other songs feel better to sing IMO, Last of my Kind and If it Takes a Lifetime are both so satisfying to sing.

I like to sing but have a good range of about half an octave. Here are the two extremes for me.

Cherokee by Kamasi Washington has an angelic singer who I cannot stand to sing with, I just listen.

We always belt it on C’mon Baby Cry by Orville Peck though even though nobody in my house can hit both his low and high falsetto notes, his voice & range is crazy good. I’m sure it sounds bad but feels so good to sing.

Eh? Comics are stories. I love reading books, so much, and never found it fatiguing? By easier to draw, do you mean “a picture is worth a thousand words”? Like it’s easier to convey meaning in pictures? Maybe, but I love long books, short stories and comics too.

Little bits of money, sure. Surveys, selling stuff on eBay or Etsy or whatever. I never found it worthwhile, can make so much more money working at a job. Most I ever made was $200, twice. Once for designing logic for a quiz to determine hair porosity, once for an interview when some medical product I got failed.

That is over the entire history of the Internet. Otherwise it’s just been a dollar or two once in a while.
