I’m gonna throw in this for you: have you considered a VR headset like Quest? I watch YouTube pretty much exclusively on mine. If you like to watch stuff in bed, you won’t mess your neck, too.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•To win the show Alone, could someone smuggle a GPS locator inside of their anus?
162·1 year agoReality TV is a style of presentation, not a type of content. Many of these shows and contests are as scripted as normal dramas, comedies and procedurals - only filmed in a style reminiscent of a documentary.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Do you opt out of the facial scan at the airport?
31·1 year agoThere is little point in refusing it. The biometrics are already in the database - the scan uses them to let you in without using your passport. Refusing to use the system will not take your data out of the database.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•If I cut up pictures to arrange things in a way that when traced over create something "new," is that a copyright violation?
2·1 year agoThat “finite and rivalrous” is a definition that sprung up quite recently and I don’t know if I agree with it. How would one “steal a kiss” if it was a finite resource. Also while stealing is not always “punishable by law”, it can still be classified as wrongdoing. As an artist I find all forms of plagiarism to equate to stealing and while they won’t land you behind bars, they may get you a status of persona non grata with other creatives.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•If I cut up pictures to arrange things in a way that when traced over create something "new," is that a copyright violation?
52·1 year agoIt’s transformative. You are creating something new that did not exist before. At the very least this will fall under fair use, but your intent will dictate what it ends up being.
Ie: is I take Bugs Bunny’s head and out it on Daffy Duck’s body - I may be doing it as a commentary on WB cartoons, or pop culture in general. That’s ok.
If I try to launch my own Looney Toons cartoon with this new hybrid character - that’s stealing and WB lawyers will be all over any money I may make.

41·1 year agoBe ready to pay up (premium, boosts, ads) or don’t count on achieving anything. Also, if you gave them money once - you’re labeled as a mark - and if you stop paying you will be punished by the algorithm until you’re ready to pony up again.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Why was Hitler so mean and hateful toward one group or another? I find it hard to believe he woke up one day and said you and you suck but these people over here are good. Taking it so far as killing?
4·2 years agoDid nobody mention Nietzsche? Nazi worldview was largely inspired by twisting out cherry picking concepts from his works. The criticism of Christian religions idealizing the meek and looking back towards ancient Rome and Greece for strong, powerful, heroic characters and gods. The ideas of existence of superior and inferior humans. Etc.
Imagine you are a smoker and the addiction makes it impossible for you to quit. Then one day nobody will sell you a cigarette or let you bum one off them.
Count your blessings and move on.
Reddit Karma ain’t worth shit. Imaginary Internet points.
Lol, must be a headache for the devs maintaining it, but from the end user perspective it is way more pleasant of an experience than epic, origin, gog, ubi and whatever else is out there.
Sure hope not.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•What realistically would happen if someone came back to life from the dead ?
4·2 years agoEither nobody would believe it, or it would be on every screen and headline for a week, before the next news cycle Swiss the attention away.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Why do AI bros and other staunch AI defenders seem happy about the potential of killing off the creative industries?
92·2 years agoPretty good points there, though i’d argue it’s not just pure numerical IQ, but mostly life experience. The more variety of life you experience, the more you know of human history, different cultures, ways of thinking and seeing the world - the harder it is for you to get impressed by something as shallow as AI.
Tech bros live in a bubble of their own creation and don’t understand the true richness of the human condition.

Explain Like I'm Five@lemmy.world•ELI 5 Why is everyone all of a sudden lining or aligning with Trump and trying to kiss his ring when they critized him and stood their ground. Why are they now folding? Is it fear or something?English
96·2 years agoTrump is likely here to stay. With the dismantling of federal institutions, citizen rights and democratic institutions, USA is on the course to a “president for life” faux democracy like Russia or Turkey (or any number of other countries adopting this model in recent years)

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Is there another term for crafted, interactive activities besides games/video games?
5·2 years agoInteractive Entertainment? Interactive Experience?
Not sure if there is a catch-all term that encompassed everything, but these seem broader than games.
I’d guess NPR

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•What do allergies feel like for you?
10·2 years agoI get really bad brain fog. It’s like I wake up and feel my IQ has halved. Simple problems seem gigantic, everything is a hassle. On top of that - general fatigue, like walking up the stairs or running a bit gets me all breathless. Even though I should be familiar with it by now, I always keep thinking: “is it COVID?”
Then one day it rains and the pollen subsides and suddenly I can run and think and feel like myself again.

Once you realize LLMs are nothing much but very advanced auto-complete, behavior of AI fanatics becomes no different than any other cult.
