I don’t use HA so this is confusing me. If the software works for your home setup, why update at all ever? What do you as a user get other than the opportunity to see new ads on the thermostat screen or whatever?

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•What is anti-propaganda?English
4·9 months agoPropaganda isn’t necessarily lies. It is just biased towards the author’s agenda with the goal to persuade a target demographic. For example: an article (or pamphlets being air dropped over their lines) blasting Russia for summarily executing their own troops for retreating would both be factual and propaganda.
That said, I agree with your sentiment. Facts counter the ‘undesirable propaganda’.

You Should Know@lemmy.world•YSK about Jury Nullification, if you're an American and you don't, look it up.English
24·11 months agoYou’d think so, but no. You cannot be punished as a juror for voting your conscience. So long as you don’t say “I intentionally lied during voir dire to sabotage due process” they cannot even ask you why you voted the way you did unless you volunteer for questions afterwards.

11·11 months agoso it’s tricky to nullify without purgery except for very very special cases.
Assuming you meant perjury, it is not tricky in the slightest. You vote your conscience and don’t say something stupid like “I lied during voire dire, nyah ah ahhh!”.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•How is my bedroom being heated?English
6·11 months agoIt sounds like my old place. So long as you don’t have a corner unit you’re not being heated. You’re being sheltered from the cold by the surrounding units. The baseboard heaters are only there to touch up if you crack a window or something.

7·1 year agoThat’s what makes it mildly infuriating.
This is in-your-face pending shrinkflation. Once they run out of old packaging they will use new with reduced mass and count but same price. Also, you assume they’ve actually increased the number to keep the mass valid. I would not be shocked at all to learn they didn’t making this potential lawsuit material.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Did the concept of 9-5 included a 30 minute lunch and two 15 minute breaks?English
22·1 year agoDepends on the Province I think. Where I’m at you’re entitled to 30 min off (unpaid) within the first 5 hours, and another within 8 if you’re working longer than 8 hours. 15 min breaks are not mandated except that if the company gives you them they must be paid.

931·1 year agoI wish this was true so that there would be a hard limit to within this century, on how much ff related damage we will do.
Unfortunately, they are still finding more, particularly in the north. How much yet-to-be-proven oil still out there is what really should be considered along with technology improvements that increase how much oil can be effectively recovered.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Who downvotes the MediaBiasFactCheck bot?English
64·1 year agoI downvote it to lower it in the comment rankings. Acknowledging that it is imperfect, I still like it because it gives a clue as to whether I should verify the article elsewhere. It’s not there to be the final arbiter on what truth is and I think any mod that treats it as such is woefully mistaken.
