If you commit data center resources to producing you a picture of something you could easily find on the internet instead, I will downvote you. Can people not see how that’s a problem? Why does this stupid fake cat tree picture need to fucking exist? All you’re doing is helping justify the data centers, and wasting resources by creating dumb shit like this.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Do you think that Trump would be considered as the most hated U.S. president?
4·3 months agoYeah here’s the thing, almost all of the early countries leaders would be piece of shit by today’s standards for sure. The slavery alone…
Sometimes a slightly different formulation can make a difference, but some people also just metabolize the stimulants really quickly. Generally the thing that I notice on my Vyvanse is that I can pull my mind off focusing on things in order to react to things better in the moment. But that’s just how my brain reacts, still might be worth seeing if yours does the same though. Depending on your body composition, you may need an even larger dose? It’s also a possibility that you have other things contributing to your specific scatterbrained effect. I am also on Lexapro which has a good anti-anxiety effect and I’ve never been on my Vyvanse without it so that maybe helping me with mine?

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Does anyone else feel irritated when deeply religious people connect everything with god?
1·5 months agoI do appreciate your lofty conveyance of these concepts and your insight on historical context. I suppose I just tend to put sociopathy on all strangers these days. I’m not necessarily saying it’s like an imperative to spread their religion, more like people generally tend to not mature or grow in their lives, but rather to justify their own behavior to themselves instead. It’s relatively common, because of this, that people are subconsciously using religion to justify their own antisocial behaviors instead of improving themselves. And that inherent narcissism is the actual reason people will inject religion into every conversation and try and push it on to those around them. Maybe I’m cynical, though, and applying my anecdotal experience to more of the population than it actually fits with

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Does anyone else feel irritated when deeply religious people connect everything with god?
7·5 months agoSo fucking irritated my dude. I know in their minds they’re doing it out of a sense of trying to help other souls to find the correct path, in theory. But when you look at it from a secular point of view it literally just feels like them asserting their worldview constantly in the most smug possible way, like get fucked fr. Humans just don’t know how to stop themselves from convincing everyone around them of whatever fairytale horse shit they desperately need for themselves to not fear death. I don’t mind them believing whatever the hell they want, I just wish they would shut their ass about it. If it’s the truth thing everyone on Earth has the same access to it and I don’t need somebody constantly reminding me that what’s true is true. Things that are true don’t need to be constantly repeated

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Type-2 Diabetics of Lemmy: What were some of your symptoms that you only realized after your diagnosis were symptoms of diabetes?
4·10 months agoI also wanted to suggest to you that you go on a marathon on some site like YouTube about diabetic management and prevention. Knowledge is power when it comes to disease! The better you understand, the disease you face and the more you know about it, the smarter decisions you can make for yourself and your own health! Just make sure you are checking your sources carefully! There are probably more bad sources than there are good sources in the the grand scheme of the internet. A good rule of thumb is to steer away from .coms and steer toward .orgs and in the past .gov

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Type-2 Diabetics of Lemmy: What were some of your symptoms that you only realized after your diagnosis were symptoms of diabetes?
4·10 months agoIt is definitely a lot of management, but it may be the disease. I see that is most preventable but also causes the most problems for people in the hospital when not controlled well. Our society does suck that way, but if you can do anything to stick to whole foods like fruit and cook your own meals without added sugar or salt, it can go a long way and sometimes save you money, though I do recognize that cheap as hell, fast food is the cheapest way to eat these days. It is also poison and I think you would do well to steer clear of it as often as humanly possible ❤️ most especially soda, even the sugar-free ones aren’t great, especially for diabetics as they can trick your body into releasing insulin and it’s still taxing for that system in a diabetic. You got this I believe in you!

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Type-2 Diabetics of Lemmy: What were some of your symptoms that you only realized after your diagnosis were symptoms of diabetes?
7·10 months agoIf you are stressed about it, I would recommend possibly getting a glucose monitor for your own mental health. You can check it more frequently and see what your glucose does before and after meals, that can give you some more information to go off of if you are trying to get your doctor to order specific tests. I imagine if you asked him he would order an A1C test though! They are simple and quick, and as the other person said, they give you a good idea of how well your blood sugar is controlled over the course of several months. It’s really the way they diagnose diabetes in the first place generally. Activity and diet control are the number one ways to stay out of diabetes, however. Some people’s genetics are so tilted towards diabetes that they will enter it eventually regardless of how they eat, but that’s a pretty rare case. If you are really able to keep yourself in shape and control your diet for calories and carbohydrates and fiber, your chances are become so slim that I doubt your doctor would worry about it much anymore. I know that’s a difficult thing to do though, so as others have said, frequency of urination is often one, especially at night, neuropathic tingling in your toes, slowly healing wounds, fatigue. These are often among the first symptoms, but in many cases people don’t catch it until they enter what is called DKA or ketoacidosis, this is the major short-term risk of both diabetes, it is a separate production your body switches to when it can’t process carbohydrates and it produces an acid that your blood won’t get rid of fast enough, these people have to go to the hospital and stay usually a couple days qqqto get out of it. If you are already tracking it with your doctor, and checking your blood sugars, then you are ahead of the game! There is no real indicator besides your blood sugar and your a1c, and then physiological symptoms you may notice. Even if you do go into diabetes at this stage in your life, IF you are doing the other things I mentioned, and tracking your blood sugar, it would most likely be a an autoimmune-induced late onset type 1 diabetes. Even if that were the case with modern devices like CGM or sometimes even cgm and insulin pump combos. Your health can remain basically the same even after that kind of diagnosis! At this stage in our science, both types of diabetes are completely manageable if you are willing to be VERY compliant with your regiment. The bad parts of diabetes always come from specifically uncontrolled diabetes. The issue is that the molecule of glucose is large and can cause damage in the bloodstream, so when that level gets out of control, those molecules can clump and affect your tiny blood vessels. That is where the worst things come from, general organ damage including eyes and lack of circulation to the smaller ends of your extremities, usually your toes first. There is ALMOST no actual risk to having diabetes if you control it really well, you can essentially have full-blown type 1 diabetes with no insulin producing cells remaining and if you are tracking it well enough and good enough about your diet and exercise and medicine you can live a completely normal life and it won’t even shorten your lifespan significantly. That’s the hard part for people though. Having really good control because it’s a pain in the butt. Source: I’m an ICU nurse
Don’t make yourself feel that kind of guilt man. Relationships are complex as hell and change over time. Sometimes people have expectations that they aren’t communicating well, and sometimes people have expectations that aren’t really reasonable. I’m seeing you placing a lot of blame at your own feet, but the nature of a disease is that it is something you cannot control. If you are working on it then that is all you can do and I applaud you for that. And I’m so sorry to hear about your struggles and I hope they ease up for you soon

3·11 months agoYes and no, depends on your intake and genetics. Definitely zero sugar products have helped a lot of people avoid diabetes, which is huge in terms of overall health. Especially since diabetes is one of the most common problems in the hospital in many developed nations

18·11 months agoFirst off you should do black coffee instead of monster. I know it sucks but it’s a zero calorie beverage. Monster is poison. I actually just last year got diagnosed and I’m on Vyvanse (highly recommend over Adderall) one thing I noticed early on with the medication, that may help you depending on what your symptoms are, I actually realized that I was more capable of breaking my attention away from things without experiencing the anxiety of feeling like I will completely forget about it, than I normally am. I’m not sure how you can simulate this without the medication before you can get yours, maybe try writing more things down or redirecting yourself? Now I’ve been on the meds long enough I don’t really notice much of the effect anymore, but I’ve also noticed behaviors in myself that allow me to intervene on my ADHD symptoms without the medication every single day. I hope the medication helps you as well, and hopefully in the meantime you can get by with mindfulness tactics. I should have gotten diagnosed younger!
