  • Pretty much nailed in. I’ve been away for probably 4 years now and honestly I have no interest in the game at all. I was at a bar with friends a few years ago when some of their friends were doing a fantasy draft and was wearing a pair of Packers shorts. A Bears fan came up and started giving me some gruff and I just told him I hadn’t been following the NFL anymore so I was current on events. He just kept trying to give me shit, so I went ahead and returned the favour as a Packers fan to a Bears fan. Afterwards I was telling my buddy that while I don’t watch or care anymore, I will always take the opportunity to dunk on the Bears.

I used to go to at least one game at Lambeau every year for about a decade. I do miss the excitement of being at a live game with 70k other people, but I just don’t have any desire to go to another. I would absolutely tag along for the tailgate though and hold down the fort as everyone else went in.

  • College is a scam in that it’s expensive, but if you go to class and put in the effort, you will still come out better educated than before. The big lie is that a degree will get you a job. It won’t, but it can help get a job.

It depends on what you want to learn. If you want to do a trade or tech, community college or trade school are decent options that are cheaper, probably more hands on, and don’t require the extra core classes that a university requires to graduate. With trades, you can try to get an apprenticeship somewhere and get on the job training. For tech, you can self study, build projects, and make a portfolio. Some fields you have to have a degree, like being a nurse/doctor, teacher, or lawyer.

If you want to get better educated just for the sake of being more intelligent, there are tons of resources available, many free. Coursera, Udemy, Khan Academy, and others are free or low cost, you just have to search for what you want to learn about. Some schools like MIT have free college courses that if you complete, you can get a certificate but not a degree unless you pay.

  • I would, because I have a conscience, and I’d rather not be rich than be a rich twat. But also, the assumption in your comment is that evil people are guaranteed to be lucky and rich, which isn’t universally true. There a many good people that are lucky and rich and many evil people that are lucky and rich.

Bernie Madoff is an evil person that was extremely wealthy and evil and it caught up to him. Trump is evil and wealthy with power. I’d rather be dead than be either of those people.

You should be a good person because it’s the right thing to do, not because you expect a reward or wealth.

  • Pretty much all of the examples you provided happen to shitty people too, probably at a hiring rate in many cases. The benefit of being a good person on those situations is that at least you can take pride in not being a turd. Take your list, and reverse the logic for each input and see if that would make you feel better.

    • Maintained a crappy attitude, then misfortune strikes.
    • Spent all of my money, inflation happens.
    • Was a jerk, taken advantage of.
    • Was a liar, get hatred.

    Just a handful of examples.

  • 2 very close friends, my wife that’s my friend, another close friend, and at least another dozen I would consider friends. Then there are many acquaintances that I enjoy associating with, but we’re not a as close and don’t talk frequently. Also a brother, sister, and BiL that I’m close with and do friend things with.

  • You made a claim and then have nothing to back it up.

    Did I ask for one?

Then what views to you have that you would call centrist?

Yes, literally in the post you responded to where you gave empty platitudes. I didn’t go straight to assumptions. I asked a question and you skirted around it like in every other response in here.

Suspicion culture is something you just made up. You make a claim, I asked for details around it, and you deflected. Yea, people are going to be suspicious when someone comes off as trolling and won’t support their claims with specifics.
