No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•does the quality of downloaded youtube video increase after being downloaded?
1·1 month agoTell that to the GuitarTubers whose audio get squashed to oblivion.
I can literally hear pumping clear as day in response to loud moments. It absolutely is doing dynamic range compression.
Its so obvious that I realized I was logged out of my Youtube account after a browser update and had to disable it again.

3·1 month agoTurn off “Stable Volume” in Youtube’s video settings to disable dynamic range compression.
This is a must if you listen to music on Youtube.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Not trying to disparage first responders on 911. Why aren't nurses included with fire and police departments? Did we not take care of people on the backend of the rescuing?
1·2 months agoWhat about all the people that breathed in that toxic cloud or injured themselves trying to run away from the chaos? Surely many of them ended up in hospital.

11·2 months agoPeople are allowed to ask honest questions and IMO this seems like one. If more people exercised self-reflection like this we might live in a better society.
Ideally the advisory is going out over the radio too. People will hear it while driving and then spread by word of mouth.

Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•Politicians in California want to remove bike lanes from the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge. During the public hearing, a top official was driving his carEnglish
20·3 months agoNon-resident aggressively commenting on another country’s driving laws then shit talking foreign policy out of nowhere. Bold strategy, Cotton.
The fact is that a video call implies that your eyes are on the video. In this case while driving. Do you see how that’s problematic? Your argument is some weird whataboutism.

Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•Politicians in California want to remove bike lanes from the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge. During the public hearing, a top official was driving his carEnglish
23·3 months agoThe bridge is 4.3 miles. Average riding speed for a 30-35 year old rider is 20.8 mph according to Strava data. Let’s say its 15mph instead.
That’s a 28 minute ride at below average speed; 20 minutes at average.
That is not too long, as clearly evidenced by the people that use the bike lane.

Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•Politicians in California want to remove bike lanes from the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge. During the public hearing, a top official was driving his carEnglish
24·3 months agoIf their time is so valuable, maybe they should ride a bike instead of trapping themselves in traffic?
The average American commute is 41 miles round trip. I guarantee you that a large number of people stuck on that bridge every day have a much shorter commute, could ride a bike instead, and would actually spend less of their time commuting by doing so.
Those are the people you should be angry with because they’re the ones that are directly wasting your time with their frivolous driving trips. The more we get people riding bikes, the less problems those that are required to drive will experience.
Also, maybe if the average American car wasn’t a wasteful hulking behemoth there would be more room for more people on the roads. 🤷
Which is funny because if your job requires you to touch those lids, it would be your fucking job.
This is just the work of lazy fucks or they’re truly dumb as a bag of rocks.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•What is the most easy instrument that anyone could pick up?
2·3 months agoDrummers covering other drummers is a very popular scene on Youtube. Check out Alex Rudinger to start and just go down the rabbit hole.
iHeartRadio is a cancer. They’re just consolidating everything like Ticketmaster did with venues.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Is anyone else not feeling that patriotic for July 4?
102·4 months agoPersonally, I’m not feeling that same vibe. I think the solidarity against the US is a very good thing, but the sheer amount of ways Canada is just “America Light” is very depressing. Its to the point that our flag has been so sullied by absolutely shit tier movements in the last 5 years that I can’t stand to see it anymore.
Every time I see a private flag pole, bumper stickers or anything kind of patriotic merch my knee jerk reaction is “I bet this dude’s a fuckwad.” I know that I’m painting with a huge and shitty brush but I just can’t even fight against it anymore. I know it’s wrong. I just don’t care, and that makes me sad.
I live comfortably here, but given even a minutely convenient reason to emigrate I think I’d take it.
Canada is a car infested, anti-human shit hole just like America. To paraphrase Steve Harris of Iron Maiden a bit “We oil the jaws of the
warcapitalist machine and feed it with ourbabiesimmigrants.”
I totally understand where you’re coming from but I also understand why people like the curated experience. When I went to Mexico for the first time, I went to a resort because in that moment all I cared about was not having to care about anything, if you know what I mean.
There’s a time and a place for both styles of travel.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•What would happen if the Earth were sucked into a black hole?
141·5 months agoBlack holes don’t just roam around looking for planets to snack on.
Don’t be so sure. There’s plenty of cases of black holes devouring entire star systems. There’s so many black holes just drifting around that you could make a case that they are just roaming around looking for their next snack.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Is it wrong or uncommon to judge people primarily on their worst moments/acts?
32·5 months agoIf I saw anyone harm any animal intentionally outside of self-defence, that’s an instant and permanent write off. I’d literally take any opportunity to talk shit about said person beating animals and would take pride in beating their ass if the moment was right.
Anyone hurting animals gets a big ol’ irrevocable “fuck you” from me.
There’s like 8 billion people on this planet you can be friends with. Don’t roll with or enable abusers.

Idiot is a very strong word to describe this. For a place so typically welcoming of neurodivergence this feels really dissonant in the grand scheme of things.
I get major ick vibes from this particular take on the situation.
