I mean let’s count - boomers, gen x, millenials, gen z is only 4 generations later. Generation gamma or delta can decide if it’s a redeemable symbol and I cant imagine they’ll care all that much what their great (great) grandparents generation thought about it.

My neighbor uses Imgur as his main social media. I take that with a grain of salt though since he’s a millenial who only used flip phones til 2022, there are dozens like him, dozens!

Vanishingly close to 0%. People are social creatures and rely on each other to survive. Without the intricate web of interreliance that society relies on only a few extremely healthy and resourceful, profoundly insane people would survive as truly independent entities, a tiny number of these might “thrive.” Probably numbered in the hundreds or thousands worldwide.
I remember when my friend visited Arizona and they came back with a full color newspaper-style police publication with hundreds of mugshots and the crimes they were accused of, these were published weekly and widely available. Pretty fun to browse through, wish my state did that.

When Twitter went downhill, we got bluesky and mastodon. Bluesky works as a decent Twitter replacement and Mastodon is smaller and more fediverse-focused. Lemmy and Piefed are alternatives to Reddit but I wouldnt really say that Lemmy fully replaces Reddits functionality in terms of niche subs. That’s why I’ve always been in favor of explosive growth here with each Reddit exodus, to have a forum within an order of magnitude or two of the size of Reddit to properly become a replacement.

A lot of people I’m convinced look at the administrations hijinks as entertainment. Gallows humor maybe but humor nonetheless. I am so sick of seeing Trump et al treating leadership as a joke.

Edit: I looked in the settings menu and you can block communities through there but ideally for me there be a way to do it from the page of the community itself.
So I created an account over on piefed.social and was browsing by /all and saw some communities I have no interest in ever seeing. I navigate through to the community and there’s no “block community” function? How am I to browse by /all as is my wont, without seeing furry porn? Nothing wrong with it but it’s just not my jam.
Honestly /all is the best way to find new active communities to join and it’s worked here at Lemmy just fine. Or maybe I missed the button on piefed, or devs are adding it as you read this.
A lot of the Lemmy posts I see are from a few very active posters, and more is always welcome as long as it’s interesting stuff. I’m one of those people that wants Lemmy to be 10x it’s current size though, there are definitely the other kind here but yeah in my opinion push for exponential growth any way you can if you have the energy for it.
Thanks, that’s a load off my mind. It doesn’t really sound true but the bubbling action of peroxide always seemed a little ominous. Easy to see how this rumor started, it could be generations old.
Not sure if this is true but someone once told me that using hydrogen peroxide on wounds of a certain size might lead to a bubble of gas appearing in the bloodstream, which would be undesirable. I dunno, I rinse my mouth with diluted h2o2 occasionally and might put it on a small scrape but I’m a little leery after hearing that. Also the “cauterizing” effect seems like it might slow healing or cause a more notable scar.
