Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•How to Combat Troll Farms and AI Bot Farms?English
1·4 days agoYeah the answer is to log off
This could work if you live in Venice or something, but i meant *taking* damnit
Under capitalism, kayaking the time to get to know your neighbors is revolutionary behavior. When things go sideways, the people in direct geographic proximity to you are going to be the ones in best position to support you (and one another). It’s best to start laying that groundwork asap.
Being involved in wider activism is also a grounding and fulfilling. You don’t need to join a revolutionary socialist party like PSL (but you can if you want to go hard), even joining a park cleanup day or something like that is a good place to be.
It helps to put in some extra shifts at the posting mines
I didn’t want a mod tag next to all of my posts, and Lemmy doesn’t let you disable it.
Yeah this isn’t my main account
Hey, haven’t used this account in a while, figured I got demodded, but if there’s a need I can fire it back up. I think the instance admins have things under control in general.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•what phone(s) do you use and what's the default web browser on them?English
5·2 years agoIt’s not that you’re an idiot, but it’s wise to avoid using a chromium/blink based browser since they are building a dangerous monopoly. Firefox is the best known alternative, but there are a couple other options.

11·2 years agoBe careful about “unsubscribing” to various services.
They will unsubscribe you, but then they also have all of your information (name, address, anything else) on record and confirmed. They can profit when the sell that data to another mailer “service”. It’s like a Hydra.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What is a hobby you enjoy, but seems too quirky or obscure to bring up in most conversations?English
5·2 years agoThe thing is that on leftist forums, the stakes for a veganism debate are pretty high cause it easily causes a 50-50ish flameout.
Mods would appreciate if people like OP didn’t intentionally troll to stir that sort of thing up (if the discussion takes place organically and respectfully, then whatever).
Mods would also appreciate if people didn’t feed obvious trolls who are just starting things up, like you pointed out, there are specific places to post about that sort of topic.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What would you do with 100 billion dollars to have the most positive impact on the largest number of people?English
2·2 years agoRight, you can assume that people around here aren’t racist/homophobic/transphobic etc… Cause even if they are, they’re gonna catch a ban as soon as they expose themselves. They generally don’t deserve your full wrath if we’re fundamentally “on the same side” just cause they are kinda naive and not big fat theory nerds like some people around here.
In the future you can go against the position, but you repeatedly used “you” in this post making it personal and right up against our civility guidelines.
The other hand of the issue is the Democrats have repeatedly failed to recognize and manage the necessary decline of capitalism. It’s “necessary” because capitalism had globalized and essentially run out of land and people too exploit.
Exploited countries will push (are pushing) back, and/or look for other options (China, etc). Because the Democratic party is a pro-capitalism party, they are unable to recognize this situation. Republicans recognize it and turn up the heat, both internally and externally. For a lot of (foolish) Americans, this looks like an appealing option.
The democrats could sweep 2028, but it means the snapback is going to be even more intense in 2032 when they fail to govern.
